    Re: Farmers in Conversation

So, am re-working some previously processed images to compare what I've done before with what I can do now.
Why can't it just be easier??
Hi Donald: If this is a different crop and rework of the shot you had entered in the Sept. Comp. then, whatever you are doing you are on the right track. The Sept. shot is good but the textures and sparkle in this one are just so much better. I don't know anything about the software you are using, but you sure seem to be able to make it work for you.

Your memory (or powers of searching) is a lot better than mine. I thought I had posted it somewhere, but couldn't have told you where.

Yes that's different, much brighter. I'm sort of practicing depressing pictures and I suppose not getting it quite right.

    Hi Arith,

Doesn't matter. Nobody is perfect, practice / proper guidance makes man perfect.

Every picture should be meaningful, arranging material is one thing, conveying message is another thing, sometimes it can be done simply by proper lighting arrangements, sometimes proper background, we used to have art director with us when we were taking this type of pictures. This can also be achieved by carefully watching and studying / following commercial advertisement in reputed magazines

You mean like "There's nothing sadder than a glass of wine alone" Can't remember what song that line is from, but it popped into my head.

You would think that the dark light would be the most depressing, however in this case I do think that even though Ashwin's is brighter lighting wise, it emphasizes the subject and thus the feeling of depression when being able to see clearly that someone was reading the paper alone with a glass of wine. The light on just a bit of the newspaper is also relevant as is the dark background. It would not be the same otherwise - in my mind.

I know I'm reading a lot into one photo, escpecially when I'm not even sure if that is what you meant by depressing.... but I do think the brighter version is more depressing in that sense.

Proper focus on the subject material, and lighting to suit the message to be conveyed is more important
