I search high and low for months just to try to find one Bobo and you have them falling asleep at your feet!LOL!
Great shot and an unusual pose to boot! Were you able to get any other shots of him while he was dozing?
Thanks Frank. A Mandarin is quite unusual for NA with main populations in the Far East and feral populations in the UK and Europe. So in a way was quite lucky to see him. The closest we have is the Wood Duck but the males are sooooo shy that they are almost invisible in the wild.
Yes literally at my feet. I have tons of shots in all sort of poses. Will post them up as they get processed. Did miss out on the flight shots. Fingers were almost frozen and had already lost sensation in the tips. Braved that for a while but had to leave - either him or my hands. Hands won. LOL. Would have been pointless anyway as the gear was impossible to control by that time.
Was hoping to return for a further set and correct some "posing" mistakes but he is no longer there. Hopefully he will return.
Love the background, and if I was standing on the snow barefooted I would have one leg up in the air
Thanks Ken.
Standard bird behaviour. If he was sleeping with both legs down, that would be a sure sign he was not well.
I like his smile...one question: how do you know it is a male specie?
Stunning. Unbelievable creature, great shot.
Thanks Isabel - yes, he was having a happy dream.
Thanks Ken for clarifying.
Thanks Matt. Wish we had more of the pretty variety up here but...
Thanks Ken...I love the colour of the male...and thank you for contributing to my learning experience...now I know what I am looking at...not just a "duck".![]()
Cool, really cool. Great capture.![]()
Bobo,
Every now and again we get a real cracker (read as quacker) and this is one of them, excellent.
Grahame
Superb Bobo,great capture!![]()
Thanks Andre, Grahame, John, David. Glad you like it.
Hi Bobo,
Extraordinarily special! All of your duck images are quackers, and this is one of my all time favourites of yours!
Thanks Christina. That is great compliment.
Another winner!
Great Photo! I wish I could find one of those around here.
