Nice shot of a beautiful dog. I like the backlighting effects on the fur around the ears. Processed much better than your last portrait. This one looks very natural and all techs look great. Nicely done.

It is indeed. Very good use of the natural light.

Whether deliberate or not, the processing has created a very 'painterly' effect on the hair on the dog's body (chest, flank, legs) which, this case, works well, I think (We see it better if you zoom right in a full size in the lightbox). In other words, we don't see each individual hair, but instead more of a swath (some might write swathe) of soft hair that doggy-people like us just want to stroke.

Thanks for the kind comments. Donald, you're right in that I went for a painting effect. Some of my past portraits of Cascha had the white hair washed out so I focused on making sure her hair showed the soft quality that I see in real life. Thanks to a lot of CIC members for their past comments and helping me become a better photographer.
