    a few recents

Here are a few pics from the last week. I am working on improving my bird images so any and all feedback is most appreciated.

    1. The big one that didn't get away.
I think a faster SS would have been beneficial here.

    2. No time for set up, just a quick point and hope to get it.

    3. The wind was blowing pretty hard.

    4. I kind of like this one. Too bad the small twig is in front of the body.

You've critiqued your images very well.

You can remove the small twig either by cloning it out or doing a content aware option. The eagle looks nice despite your critique that the wind blows. Hey! the weather comes into play, you can't comb its feather just to make him look good. Consider it your very own style. I kinda like your shot of #1 but the bird is a little bit on the soft side. You are right -- it would have been better with a faster shutter speed. #2will be OK if you lighten up the exposure in your PP and put a bit of contrast so she will stand up to the test. In short, excellent series.

Hi Isabel, thanks for the feedback. I agree with all points. Can just imagine climbing a very high tree with a comb and curling iron in hand to get the eagle looking it's best (her hee hee). #2 the original was not great to start with, couldn't even see the neck or head of the goose it was all blended in with the background. I will give that one another attempt at pp

With the goose, can you do some dodging and burning? try to locate where the eyes are and play with the dodge and burn over there, THEN put a little highlight in the eyes...good potential. Trial and error. If you do not like the results, just leave it as is, you've shot how you did and accept that...Manfred - said to me once in another post -- shoot wide and go for the eye nearest the camera. I will always remember that whenever I take a shot of anything moving that has eyes.
