Picture Motion browser, what to do please?

I use Picture motion browser to upload my photo's from my camera to my hard drive. I would like to use the sofware that came with my Pentax K30.

If i get rid of picture motion browser, would I lose all my images I have on it, or would it transfere to the K30 Pentax disk?

Louise - data stored on your hard drive does not get deleted when you uninstall a piece of software, so no, you should not lose your images; they will still be in the same place where you stored them initially. I have used (and removed) Motion Picture browser that came with my wife's Sony camera.

I don't know what software Pentax supplies with the camera, I assume it will copy the images from your camera to your hard disk. I personally do not use any of the software provided by the camera manufactures for transfering images, as there are many other solutions out there.

As I said before, I use software that has not been supplied by the camera supplier 100% of the time, so as long as you have the (Sony) AVCHD codec on your computer, you will be able play these images.

If you are planning to continue to connect your Sony video cam to your computer, why are you planning to remove the Picture Motion browser?? Based on the questions you are asking, I suspect you are not that technically oriented with the computer and software, so I would recommend you leave the Sony software in place, as you may continue to need it.

Yeah I was just wondering if I would have enough room to install the CD that came with my camera.

Generally software tends to not take up a lot of hard drive space. If you are worried about not having enough room, chances are you won't have enough space for a lot of images either. My image files and video takes up a lot of hard drive space and I tend to use external storage for my images.

I have a 320GB Free agent Go that I purchased two years ago and it's still working pretty good. My larger capacity external drives are Toshiba 2TB Canvio and I have a Western Digital 3 TB MyBook.

    Have a guess :)

Just remember that any hard drive can fail at any time - so make sure that what you put on the external drive is also backed up elsewhere.
