    Jacky's Beach

Had a dull and miserable walk down the beach with the dog but decided to lug the tripod along so I was able to have a play with one of my favourite features on the K30.

It (along with my D300s) can take up to nine shots in one frame combining them automatically to create blur if the subject has any movement in it. Unlike a single shot long exposure you don't need low light or a high density filter and because you can use a faster shutter speed you still get some detail in the blur. The first camera I owned that did it was the D200 and it is something I've loved ever since - rather surprised the K30 has it to be honest.

This is created from three shots stitched together that are individually made up of eight exposures layered on top of each other in-camera. Combined them in CS6 then processed the resulting panoramic using Nik SEP. Bit of further tweaking back in CS6 and I feel this is a good representation of how the beach felt this morning.

Well I don't agree that your walk was dull and miserable...............I'd love to be able to walk on that beach everyday !!

Apart from the movement appears to be still moving to my eyes, I like it, Robin.

    Clearly does what you intended.

Makes me feel cold just looking at it - a good realistic image.

Though many people like beaches, I was born and raised in a place where the beach was only a walk away, after a while I tend to go to places (in my R&R) far away from the beach. As for this shot, I like the simplicity of the comp itself. Good job.

    Thanks.

This beach is about ten minutes walk from mine so I'm there every week, never tire of it but i wish it and I were a few thousand miles further south and therefor warmer because it was nippy out this morning.
