Kris, I don't know what part of Texas you are in, but here in Lubbock we are currently at 19 degrees on the way to 8 degrees.

File 13 is a euphemism for the trash can. I don't know how that came to be but I'm sure Mr. Google would be able to let us know.
Lubbock Texas set a new record low this morning of 6 degrees. When I left for work it was a balmy 7 degrees with a wind chill of -8. The Waco, Houston, San Antonio areas received ice and snow this morning. Down in that area of Texas they rarely get that kind of weather so the drivers down there are probably having fun. We get that weather much more often than they do.
The one benefit to Texas weather.....Today the high is going to be 33....Thursday's high is going to approach 80 degrees.

We used to live in Houston, but we moved a little bit more North when we retired. About 20 miles South of Livingston, literally in the middle of the woods. Big change for a city girl like me.
And it's at least 10 degrees colder here than Houston.
The past weekend was nice - 70-ish.
This morning: sleet and freezing rain. My youngest daughter tells me to stop complaining about cold - she lives in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
I used this cold snap as a another photo opportunity, this time I've tried to get some sleet crystals. It looks pretty on the leaves - hopefully the camera (and operator) caught some of it. I may not get another chance this year.....
By Friday, it will go back up to 70 degrees again.
It's the same here. The only exception is we are expecting winds in the 30 to 40 mph range on Thursday. Another cold front hits for the weekend but not as severe as this one. Highs Saturday and Sunday in the mid 50's. I can live with that.
The way this winter has been I bet the Canadian Geese that winter here are wondering if they went far enough south.
Crikey! if you two are going to talk of warm weather while we freeze our hands and butts here, you better stop right now! I am very envious! My husband's best friend who lives in Florida are also taunting us for our weather here. My husband is complaining of the cold he refused to take the dogs to the hangar with him because Tucker doesn't want to go upstairs to the office where we have a full aircon/heater combo. Whenever he complains of the weather, I tell him about the weather in Canada, so he will feel better off...
Me? I can't wait to go to Australia.
Cold here in this part of Texas is unique when compared to the cold in other states. I visited family in Pennsylvania over Christmas break when I was a kid. Meadville PA to be exact, 23 miles off of Lake Erie. Highs in the teens and lows below 0 and it didn't feel that bad. For some reason the moisture in the air didn't make it feel as cold. Here in the Lubbock area on the South Plains the air is extremely dry and the wind never quits. It seems like the only thing between here and Canada is a barb wire fence. The cold here cuts straight through. My brother came to visit us from Colorado and told me that 20 degrees here feels like 5 degrees there.
Shutter buttons will not cause a finger to freeze to it - unless one or the other is wet. But not knowing if your finger is actually on the shutter button has been a constant this winter.
Pic - excellent shot of the ice stick. Just be careful when walking around not to accidentally brush a tree or what not and some break and come down on you. The right poke for it may be the wrong poke for you, eyes especially.

Well, just got word that we are expecting a chance of rain/snow mix Sunday (my only day off), Monday, and Tuesday. Wonder what selling cars for a living would be like in Bermuda or St. Thomas?
