Marie was asking about using her 6x9 film camera. This was taken on an Ensign Selfix 6x9 on Ilford 120 roll film (FP4). Like most of that era, only a four element lens but the image size makes up for any shortfall in native definition. I occasionally use film because I don't like the idea of these cameras just collecting dust. No EXIF but almost certainly a 2X yellow filter for the clouds.

Great shot John. I am intrigue by it. How do you covert your film to digital?

Thanks for the comments all. Louise, I use an Epson Perfection 4870 flat bed scanner. A bit long in the tooth now but still does he job well particularly if I use the negative carriers that it came with.

Beautiful, great quality. No doubt film has a subtlety that digital often lacks. Thank you.

Anyone viewing the image in less than the largest size is really missing a wonderful viewing experience.

This image pretty much disproves the notion that sunset and sunrise images have to be shot in color. Well done, John!

Fantastic shot and I've only had the chance to look at it on my cell phone screen.

FP4+ is my favorite B&W film. It handles almost everything quite well. I love shooting with old cameras, myself. They made things different back then, and I can appreciate the craftsmanship.

    Excellent photo!

Thanks so much for the additional comments. It's nice when someone shares their appreciation of a favourite shot. Now if I can only persuade my wife that it is worth hanging on the wall.............

James, the interesting thing is that you can go out and make a relatively large format image with something that folds up small enough to go in your pocket.

It's just great - we're running out of superlatives here. Makes me miss my Zone VI - which I sold to go digital. (I can hear some boos out there).

    Re: Anchorage

Tell us her email address so we can all drop her a line... Man o' Man...that is easy--just tell her you want to take her shopping and on the way, pass by a framing store, go inside the ask her if she can help you choose a frame for a shot you want...this is like killing two birds in one stone -- getting her approval by involving her in the process and getting what you want too. Just a thought....

It's worth getting out the divorce papers.

It's so true. Even from 6x6 negatives. Done right, and you can something that'll make your heart skip!

    Re: Anchorage

Thanks Mark, Isabel, Mike and James.

Isabel, the trouble is that there don't seem to be many frame stores next to jewellery shops. That's about my best chance.

Mike, what again! That's how I got my cameras.
