    Cloud at Sunset

I took this image yesterday with the sole intention of seeing how my camera would handle the exposure in 'Programmed Auto' mode. This is a mode that I never use but due to assisting a fellow member at present who is using this mode I wanted to get a greater understanding and appreciation of its performance and capabilities.

Three shots were taken at different exposure compensation values to assess the results and the one with no comp produced a perfect exposure. Some basic PP has been undertaken and the result I believe supports the view of many that clouds can be interesting

Comments and suggestions welcome as always.

You are right -- I love clouds because of the shapes it shift-shape itself to with the wind. Did you see the BIF at the top right hand corner? Or was that my fertile imagination running wild again? You do not mind me telling you that the bulk of your clouds seems to be too orangy?

    Isabel,

That's a bird spirit As for the colour that's just about true and has had no increased saturation or vibrance, we get some amazing sunsets here this time of the year.

Grahame, I really like the contrasting colors and that the clouds are sharp yet appear soft. Very well captured.

That is really nice Grahame, I am a big fan of clouds.

It looks like we will finally be getting some here. We are almost three months into our rainy season and barely had a cloudy day.
The forecast for this week looks promising though.

    Sergio,

Thank you for commenting. When processing this image I had an urge to sharpen too much and had to pull back to retain a certain degree of softmess.

Thanks Mark, this one seemed to have a power to it plus of course the colour.

    Hi Christina,

It reminded me of some of the clouds you see in old oil paintings.

    Hi Bobo,

It was not a plug for 'P' mode but I have to say I have been very surprised at it's performance whilst understanding it's limitations in certain lighting scenarios.
