    Cold morning on the river

After recently moving to Lightroom from Picasa, I've been looking through my catalogue and came across this one. I reckon I've re-processed it 20+ times over the years and never been 100% happy with the result but this is probably my best attempt.

    Cold morning on the river

I saw the scene by chance on the way to work. The hoar frost was particularly heavy and the fog was just beginning to burn off and I couldn't resist getting the camera out of the car boot. It was taken standing on a bridge over the river in the village of Dedham, Suffolk, UK. I'd like to have had something on the water bottom left to balance the shot - like a nice swan but no such luck.

It is very nice with reflections and I don't think you need any swans at all..Thank you for sharing:-)

Stuart, congratulation on this excellent shot, as I know just too well how quickly that type of morning frost disappears as the sun shines. The capture is already super with the reflexion on the water.I don't need a swan to appreciate the atmosphere. Well done.

Excellent shot! I can feel the cold, Stuart...the shot is balanced already without adding any thing -- a big rock nor even a swan.

Well, I think this is the time to stop. That, in my opinion, is a very good one. There is a Christmas Card manufacturer out there somewhere who would snap that one up. But, rather than go all commercial, it stands as a fine art image of which to be very proud.

Stuart - as a few others have said - stop right there - I doubt there's any more you could squeeze out of that image and it's certainly worth a print.

Also reminds me why freshwater fishing at this time of year holds no interest to me.

Very much worthy of all 20+ attempts. Now that you have brought it to perfection, hang it on a wall.

A lovely image and more so as we haven't had any hoar frosts this year to get our fingers snapping

Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback on this image. I think I can finally put it to bed now and get on with the rest of my long list for re-editing!

And the Christmas Card idea (for personal use) is a good one!
