    Landscape with Reflections for C&C

I took this in the fall and fussed with it a bit. I'm stuck, as to whether I should try to improve it or let it go the way of so many other "almosts". Any thoughts appreciated. Not sure how the wide aspect ratio will view here but here goes....

Well if it is an almost it is an almost perfect. Look stunning as a big wall hung canvas.

For me, the main problem is with that small dark strip of foreground. With that cropped, and a similar amount from probably the right side, I suspect this will look sufficiently different to work.

I pondered about the strip but decided it worked. If it was to be done as a canvas some of it could be part of the wrap around. However if it became to narrow I do not think it would work.

    L. Paul - thanks, that's nice. Right. I shouldn't be ungrateful that things went as well as they did.
Geoff - thanks for that. I thought I needed the beach to anchor the bottom, and some space on the right so the composition wouldn't be totally a left-pointing arrowhead, but I will experiment with your ideas.

The lines, mood, and watercolor look are wonderful!

My only change would be to eliminate the foreground beach. The reason is that it's a warm color that doesn't fit with the other cool colors.

Thank you, Mike. Good reason to deal with the beach. Or... blue sand?

Gorgeous image. I love it as is and would hang it on my wall, with pride.

Did you consider saturating and darkening the blues slightly? I am a bit of a sucker for deeper blue skies

Thank you Christina - "looks OK" thrill enuf for me.
Here's a try at the beach.. an attempt at lightening and cooling for Mike. There's a little deeper blue for Trevor, but skies scare me a bit - weird is never far away. This one has a whisper more structure and a few more pixels for more crispness. Thanks everyone - I do think it's better, but there is I'm sure, room for more, and useful critique.

Your try at the beach introduced a strong red tone that doesn't work for me. Try going back to your original and desaturating the beach until it's a color that complements the other tones of dirt in the image. I quickly tried it and think it's both the easiest and best solution.

I also think this would make a great canvas and consider it needs the beach to help anchor it. If a canvas was made of the image it would be very easy to 'mirror' the edges to provide additional image to wrap the edges.

Mark, this shot is a stunner for sure! I have come back to it a couple of times to take more time to absorb the scene and I agree with others that this would look great on a nice big canvas. For what it's worth I too think that the strip of beach should go...

I disagree....I like the beach but lighten it a little bit to complement the blues. I like the skies too and the whole overall composition. 'Would be nice to hang it on your wall...with pride.
