And as for Hui Song's images - I'd have been happy to put any of these into a competition.

Exactly. These and most of your other images I have seen, Hui Song, are very compelling and show some terrific use of a wide variety of lighting situations in landscapes, but particularly evening and night. I could use some time watching how you do many of these. Since we can vote for more than one in our competitions here, if these four were all posted in a competition, I would vote for all four, most likely.

As for the four posed here, each is quite distinctive as to subject matter and overall message, so comparing them is a difficult, apples vs. oranges sort of thing. Were they all different versions of an imaging problem, discussion of comparisons would be instructive of photography, but since they are so different it becomes a discussion about what works for competition (and,indirectly probably, what works for selling images).

I agree with the comments above - it is nice to be part of a community that teaches, but gently.
