What's better than a warm puppy?

    Two warm puppies...

What's better than a warm puppy?

This beautiful young lady has just adopted Jacques and Jolie, two of our rescue puppies. I wish that I could do a portrait session with the young lady. She is extremely photogenic and is just beaming with love for her two new friends. She is from France and what attracted her interest originally was that we had given French names to this litter of pups...

The Canon 40mm f/2.8 pancake is not a bad lens at all.

How beautiful they all are, Richard...it might be worth the shot if you ask her to be your "victim" for a portrait shot. She is very pretty.

    Izzie...

Unfortunately, she lives over a hundred miles away and drove down withe her family to get the two puppies. Her sister is a dog trainer - that's a double bonus!

Just be thankful I suppose...you know pretty well, your babies will be well taken cared of.

To me it is very obvious what is better than a warm puppy and it is not just two of them... very well taken.

You could try cropping the puppies out.......

Very nice shot Richard, but I'm curious why the top of her hair is cropped out. It's probably just me but I look at it and think to myself "... it's so close to being perfect - why can't all of her head/hair be in the photo?"

    Still very nice.

Brian, I can not speak for Richard; however this is an example of an acceptable portrait shot.

The reason the top of her hair is cropped out is that I just missed it... I was most concerned regarding the wiggly little dogs and making sure that I got both of their faces. The shot, after all is all about the dogs. Dogs, especially puppies have a very finite tolerance for being photographed. Exceed that tolerance and you get sad looking dogs. Sometimes the pup looks cute like little Blitzen, below, when sad, but often the image is a waste.

In fact, I did not realize how lovely the gal was until I saw her pictures. I liked the shot when I saw it and decided to use it even though the pups had become figgity and I had cropped the image too low. The advantage of a zoom over a prime lens is that you have greater control over cropping...
