Hello Catalina,
She looks as if she is enjoying herself, you have made her look cute with this image. well done. The colours are very complimentary.
Did you use your new lens for this image?
What is the material that is hanging behind where she is standing?
Grahame
Those are trees covered with flowers, that are blurred by the plastic of the greenhouse.
And no, I was working with the old lens, it is sharp, isn't it?
Her face is mischievous.
One question.¿ Don't you think that the focus should be on her eyes? the sharpness of the flowers is the first thing that attracts my attention
cordially,
Catalina
Hi Catalina,
I would consider the point of focus debatable in this image, does it depend upon whether you want the flowers or the girl to be the main subject. There are others that will have a far more knowledgeable view on this than meMy main area of photography is bugs and critters and it's always the eyes that must be in focus.
The plastic is reflective and not the best background but at times we have no choice.

working inside this greenhouse has been a challenge, there is not a lot of light, but I can work without a flash, which I am still not able to use properly. As someone pointed out to me a flash can affect the color and brightness of the flowers that are light blue or white. I would not light like the flash bouncing back to me from the flowers. Neither I want people shutting his or her eyes
or red eyes.
As you can see the workers are country people and shy with the camera.
Dear Grahame:
Of course I want the little girl to be the main subject of the photography. ¿Do you like bugs and critters? When I was a girl I grew up in the country (northern part of Colombia) I spent long time looking as this fascinating creatures, specially ants which carry things on their back. Those were not the times of having national geographic simply because there was no TV in our house, we saw the show of nature "en vivo y en directo" and it was amazing.
Cordially,
Catalina
Dear Grahame: Would you still teach me? we were on the verge of avoiding a tragedy. The house of "mayordomos" in the country houase was about to fall because there is water running undernath the house.. We have to build a new house or a house from the barn, I mean the barn remodeled becomes a house.
We cannot afford with this the clases of photography,
Sincerely,
Catalina
Hello Catalina,
Of course I will continue and we will do it step by step from the start.
The first thing will be to undertake the 'Two Button Reset' on your D40, then take a picture in 'P' (Programmed Auto) mode of a scene that contains half sky and half land and post it here. The object of this is to confirm you camera is working correctly.
The content or composition of the scene does not matter. I have sent a PM (private message) regarding the procedure referenced to the User Manual pages for the 'Two Button Reset'.
