I like it Clive but what I have learnt in CIC is that if you put two strong and same objects in a frame it is distracting because the eyes go from one object to the other all the time to make a comparison.Even so,I still like your photo

I like the photo....now if only the reflection of the birdie at the front wasn't cut off....and then more space at the end of the tail...

Thanks to both of you for viewing, I appreciate that you like the image.

Binnur - I totally agree with your comment, however, two objects is the entire point of the photograph. If the two swans were not mirroring each other, then I wouldn't of included the second.

Isbel - I quite like this, it's one of my favourites, not for what it is particularly, but because I saw the swans coming up the pond (at Calke Abby) and realised the potential and saw the image in my minds eye.

The story in brief - One swan was swimming slightly fasted than the other and after scrambling down a muddy bank and taking a couple of very quick trial shots to check the exposure (both swans were in strong sunlight) I only had chance for one shot to give me the image I had seen in my mind (a, I ran out of bank and b, the swans separated).

One thing I did want was a lower angle, but unfortunately reeds were in the way. I did want to get the 1st swan's reflection, but this would have steepened the angle of shot, and in any case the reeds would have blocked it.

Typical tale of woe of an amateur photographer I know. I suppose if I were a more patient man, I would have waited for the rest of the day until they (the swans) repeated their pose for me.

Oh well....we learn as we go. I would have been excited too seeing two of them. You know, truth to say I have only seen a white swan once in my life (well except for those ones at the zoo or something...) because where I came from (Australia) there were only black swans at the lake nearby. I wish I could see one again...in person.

I like the way that is a composed. In that situation I think my mind would have led me to see the need to have all of the swans in the frame. But this works very well as it is, with attention clearly being thrown onto the heads of the birds.
