This is the Princess Alaska Rail Service's Denali Express arriving in the seaport of Whittier from Fairbanks, Denali National Park, Talkeetna, and Anchorage, Alaska.
Whittier (just to the left of this image) started out as a military port built at the start of World War II because it is almost always cloud covered and wouldn't be easy to be detected by air. It's only land connection is a 2.6 mile long shared road and railway tunnel. The train has just emerged from the tunnel entrance out of sight to the right.
Today, Whittier is a tourist port for Prince William Sound and the Alaska Cruise industry.
Owing to the parallel lines in this image, it may have a herringbone look. If so please open the image in the Lytebox.
