I walked around that corner once and was almost run over by a jack rabbit. I hadn't yet recovered my breath when I was almost run over by a coyote. I had to sit down for a moment, I was laughing so hard.

Gives a great sense of scale, but I'm afraid it looks very soft.

I thought the idea was good but did not know how to present it. Nothing done to it, just a crop. Any ideas to handle this type of situation?
IMHO, it's up to you to decide what you wanted to convey to the viewer. If it were mine, I'd would look at a more vertical crop/composition, as the "man dwarfed by nature" theme could be exploited to your benefit by adding to the scale and feeling of the shot. I personnally don't have any issue with the eposure or color, but I'm just a rank amateur. I didn't think it was HDR, is it? My only issue was as mentioned above - it looks a little soft to me.
I think this crop is much better. It emphasizes the height and "narrowness" of the pathway and has less dark area in the bottom corners. I might be tempted to crop off just a little off the bottom.... then again, maybe not
