The man in the painting and the woman with the child look at different directions and I think this makes the composition better.
Also the colours fill the frame in balance.If the painting on the left upper side wasn't there this photo wouldn't be so nice.I think this is a good composition lesson for me,thanks for sharing

Great image Manfred. I also like the iron grate and the pictures near it.
However, I noticed what I consider a "picture within a picture". A closer crop on the woman with her child including the painting of the man in a kerchief appears that the man in the painting is looking around the corner of the doorway, directly at the woman and child...
