    Chucky Meets His Match!

I took the picture and Delfina Chang processed it.

    Comments welcomed.

    Chucky Meets His Match!

Admin Note: Thread title changed to one that's less emotive for some. New title in honour of evil doll Chucky (a series of movies so bad they were actually quite good!). Anyone still not making the connection, just Google "Chucky" and look at the resulting pictures!

It's creepy, intriging, disturbing, unsettling and...really interesting. Great shot, great image, great processing. Still disturbing.

    I find this offensive.

MOD EDIT - Title of the image has been changed subsequent to this post from Greg.

Footloose, I don't know whether it matters to you but this doll was found in this position in a small seafood restaurant in Cortiz, Florida. I didn't put it up. However, I did record it.

Glad to know, Karm. And without judging the merit of preparing this strange set up, I can say it is a very strong image. You did a nice capture of the set up and processed it very nicely. Cheers,

But you chose the title and you posted the image (without explanation).

MOD EDIT - Title of the image has been changed.

I too find the image (and title) disturbing and wonder if you would mind sharing your thoughts behind the desire to capture this scene and your choice of title.

To me this is a perfect example of where the title of an image seems intent on provoking a strong emotional response in the viewer for better or worse. I wonder if a title such as 'abandoned doll' would have evoked the same type of feeling and response?

Edit: The title of this thread was changed after this response was written...

It reminds me of a refuse collection truck that used to drive around our neighbourhood with a similar doll tied to the front fender. It's a strong and unusual image Karm, I like it.

I appreciate all of the positive comments and apologize for its original title. I took a picture of this image because its strange, twisted, demented, ugly, freaky, scary, bizarre, and I had to. Art and artists have a long history of being attracted to the uglier side of life. If you look at other images I have posted you'll discover that most of my titles lack imagination. I now have an image posted under "Nature" that I title something like "Beach, Ocean, and Sky." Not exactly a catchy phrase. In fact, someone on this list has suggested to me that I bring a bit more effort to coming up with titles. When I looked at this image what popped into my head was "Child Abuse." If this represents a moral failing on part then so be it. Whomever (or is it whoever?) came up with its current title, thank you very much. I like it. Again, for those of you I offended with my original title please except my apology.

Although you probably didn't intend, the original title could have been interpreted in more than one way. It could just as easily have meant that the doll was abused.

    Re: Chucky Meets His Match!

John, thanks for giving me an exit. Reflecting on why I chose my original title I think it was "tongue-in-cheek." It wasn't designed to be serious. Child abuse is always a serious crime and I shouldn't have used it without serious intent.

Karm, I think that it is really big of you to take the time to reflect on and explain your thinking on the original title of the thread and on why you took the shot. I too have a hard time choosing an interesting title for my images if that is any consolation.

Well, again I am a day late and a dollar short. I missed the original title of this thread (maybe a good thing?) so I will only comment on the image. I too find this image strange and creepy, but I have come back to it several times now and I find myself liking it very much. Why?? I am not sure but I do and it is still creepy!! Nicely done Karm.

Hey Jon, who knows why humans like to look at the bizarre. All I know is that many of us like to look at, listen to, taste, and feel the strange and out-of-the-ordinary. As I stated earlier, it was impossible for me to pass this shot up and want to show it.

I would have done the same thing if I had seen it
