10/10 for spelling, punctuation, and grammar - brilliant!
9.9 / 10 for the image; I think it just needs a touch more sharpening, and perhaps a tiny tweak to the midtones.

Okay now I am stumped again. I have no idea how to play with 'mid-tones'. And yes I can see a marked difference in the two photographs. From a 9.9 to a 9.94.

Sorry, no idea how to do midtone adjustment in GIMP - hopefully someone will chip in.
In Photoshop it's just Ctrl + L and move the middle slider to the right.

It's probably called "Levels" adjustment in GIMP too.
