    Pollen Heaven

Hi all..i've never seen a bee like this...but i saw it parking off on a yellow flower and just HAD to get this shot..

    All critique and comments welcome.

    Pollen Heaven

It is a little oversaturated..it is the look i was going for though..i boosted the contrast for the bee as well on a seperate layer, using levels. I also put him centrally as i feel he has more impact there as if coming towards you.

PS Please view full screen. The colour seems to work better like that without to much distracting grey border border. The black seems to further enhance the yellow of the image...in fact..i might like to put a black border on this one.

    Hi Claudio,

Superb, both the saturation and the positioning work for me. As you say this must be viewed full screen to appreciate the pollen balls on him of which the colour is matching the flower so closely.

As for a border, would be interesting to hear what the experts say, I throw a white on mine at times because my imagination is somewhat lacking

That's an excellent capture Claudio. So hard to do, especially focus, when the insect is constantly in motion. Comp and saturation are OK for me too.

The like the details in the bee, and the DOF works very well for this image.

Some of these little bees (such as the Lasioglossum species) seem to prefer bright yellow flowers, like dandelions for instance. And that always causes potential over saturation problems.

But you don't have any real 'hot spot' problems with this shot. So it has worked out well.

A heavenly shot.... how the bee merges into or emerges out of that rich yellow gives this image a mysterious appeal
