Sigma 10-20 first shot on D7100

An evening shot using D7100, central focus points, Sigma 10-24mm set to: 14mm, F/11, 1/80sec (handheld), ISO 200, Lens adjustment in RAW. Sharpening 145, 0.8, 1 in Photoshop 6. Attached image is 904KB on my computer.

This lens seems sharp enough for a neurotic pixel-peeper like me. What do you get when you pay more for a wide angle lens? What would a Nikon 12-24 f/2.8 do that this lens can't (besides the obvious speed advantage)?

That seems to provide all the answers you need. If you like it, it's good

Looks OK to me Ed but how about a test on a modern building that has nice sharp edges on things like windows?

    Beat me to it.

If we are really to get neurotic F/3.5 to F/2.8 . . . is two thirds . . . but hey, you're shooting at F/11 what do you care?

If you like the lens then quit arguing the case for it and get out an make more photos.

A few new shots from the Sigma 10-20mm

Photoshop does correct corner brightness and sharpening is in order but, for the price, I really like the lens. It also has a responsive focus and a good feel.

You are only experiencing part of the lens' charm. Get into some real tight spaces or up against some towering structures and set the lens 10-16mm. Have fun.
