excellent dog shots I AM FOND OF NO. 2 because it reminds me of a dog my wife and I miss very much his name was jojo and he was a west highland terrier. What breed is that dog Travis?

He's a Jack Russell named Rocky..thanks for the comments James

Thanks for all the nice comments my friends. This was an experiment, testing the canon 6d full frame and its ability to maintain sharpness with a major crop. I think it succeeded. This is the original photo that I cropped and posted for this thread.
Canon 6d, Tamron 70-300 VSD, 400 ISO

Nice looking pups. Both sharp as a razor. The BG on the second one detracts a lot from the overall quality of the image. Particularly because it is similar colors/tonal range as the dog.

Lovely shots. How do you get them to stay still long enough? My dogs never seem to stop moving, and my pictures are not as sharp as yours.

Thanks Mark & Deb. Deb, my dogs are always moving too. I've found what works for me is to go out back when they are in the yard and sit myself on the patio with the camera and my 70-300mm lens and just wait for an opportunity when they stop and pause for a moment.
