Isn't it sharp and nice for f/3.3 and 1/45 sec.?I like the composition with shadows.Light must have been really bad because you got only 1/45 sec. with f 3.3 and ISO 800.I think I would like some more space in front of the bench

Nicely done and appealing. Like Binnur, I'm puzzled at the exposure, since there was enough light for a shadow (assuming it was coming from the sun - not a street lamp). Compositionally the shadows add, and provide a nice line to the subject. But I agree with Binnur that this would be helped by some space in front of the bench.

Shot was taken about 7:00AM, there were multiple lampposts that provided most of the lighting. I took about three or four shots, I'll check the composition of those. Thanks for the comments and critique.

    Mark,

Thanks for the comments and critique. Image was lit mostly by street lamp, some diffused lighting as it was 7:00AM.

John, I'm with the others in terms of wanting more room in front of the bench and while I like the shadow I wonder if leaving more room on top and eliminating some of lower part of the shadow would enhance the feeling of waiting and/or thinking?

Nice eye to see this one as it is a beautiful subject and the compositions could be endless.

I will also say that I really enjoy the way you see the world and find a lot of your shots intriguing. I may not always comment but I always look for your threads

John nice shot...I agree -- the shot should have been balanced if there is a little bit more space at the front of the bench. I can't you enough how frustrated I feel everytime I looked at the bench swing I have in my backyard near our garage and it was full of of snow...the kids (doggies) just looked at me briefly and moved on They knew I will just end up going inside instead...

    Shane,

Thank you for the kind words and comments. I checked my files and only had two other shots of the bench both at different angles.

    Re: Dry Spot

I can't imagine anyone being more qualified to make this photo than somebody using screen name Shadowman.

I'm in complete disagreement with everyone thinking the photo needs more space in front of the bench. If the bench was primary the subject, or if people see it as the primary subject, I would agree. For me, the primary subject is the shadow, not the bench.

Regardless, there is a lot more detail in the shadow to be brought out that I think will significantly improve the photo. Once that's done, I wonder if people will think differently about the need for more space in front of the bench.

    Mike,

Thanks for the compliments. I'll tweak the shadows a bit more.

    Dry Spot revised

Here is the first pass. I used PSE, Enhance/Adj Lighting/Shad.Hilite function. I changed the default setting of Lighten Shadows from 25 down to 9percent, increased midtone contrast to 48 percent. Then did a quick select of the shadow area, ran Noiseware program and added grain effect rather than reducing noise.

    Back to the drawing board.

Try selecting the large shadow and bringing out the detail in it. I would do that using the Curve tool.
