Very nice colours and patterns.I wonder what can be done to decrease the brightness of the building on the right side? Does HDR work for such a shot?

That's a very glamourous escape - still not sure I'd like to have to use it.

I have the same questions and comments. Just one more: did you try using a polarizer?

HDR or a little exposure compensation would have toned down the brightness. I was on a tour bus at the time so the shot was taken very quickly. I could have returned to the scene but wasn't even sure how the shot would turn out.

    Kaye,

Thanks for the comments. I was just recently viewing a video of the great San Francisco earthquake and if that were the emergency chances are the inhabitants wouldn't have had a chance to use it. This particular fire escape was most likely built afterward.

    Mike,

No I didn't try a polarizer, the fire escape came into view as the tour bus was navigating slow traffic, I only had the chance for one or two shots. I didn't even review the images until a day later, now I wish I had returned to the area.

A remarkably good image considering the limitation that you were shooting from a tour bus. Thanks for documenting this ornate fire escape and sharing it with us.

That's a nice picture. I would not particularly like to use it but it certainly would not be pleasant to have to paint it.
