    Buildings..how ?? Help!!

Hi all..this is the first tiem i've tried an image or 2 in this genre. So i need advice... straightening them has been difficult, making them look interesting has been difficult.. i just feel...BLAH when i see these images.

I did try HDR on these as an extra , i felt the sky was overly bright with shadows under the building so i tried HDR and processed with PS5 and tried to keep it as natural as possible. I tried using the trees as some foreground interest, but some how seems way off to me.

I need help on straightening, and understanding composition for Buildings, and what should be in the image. If you'd like you can also comment on the HDR effect.

But really would understand basics of taking images of a building...not quite same rules as landscape?

Btw the blue of sky is from using a polarizer, not the saturation HDR adds

    All comments and critique welcome

Hi Claudio, the buildings are nice but I find the cars and the road distracting in both images. You might need some cropping from the bottom.I like the composition in #2 more and I think light is better in #2 because there aren't any bright points on the front glasses of the building although there are some in #1.

Your imagery should start with a fondness (that's a strange word for this type of photography) for the building itself. Something about the building should catch your eye, whether its the way light reflects off its glass or the very character of the building. Older buildings have that character I like, the new architecture its mostly the reflections and shadows it casts on the ground below or onto other buildings.

    Claudio,

Try it again at a different time of day, sunny days give you the most challenge and the best side lighting which helps give a 3-dimensional feel of the structure.

Claudio....how about using perspective correction? This might give you the oomph you'd like to achieve...Do you have Photoshop?

Your only hope, Claudio, is to get the main verticals upright. Sometimes a bit of distortion can be used to 'straighten them up' providing you have left yourself a bit of 'wriggle room'. But often this isn't practicable and having some lines off straight can appear more natural.

There is one slight hot spot reflection on the first image, although they have worked out reasonable well.

The blue is possibly a fraction on the greyish blue side, but how does it compare with the real life scene?

As others have suggested, the perspective to my eye is too exaggerated. It can be corrected in Photoshop quite easily but you need to do that before cropping because you always lose a bit around the edges.

I usually make the vertical lines of the building vertical in the picture but there is an argument for leaving in a small amount of perspective because that is what the eye sees.

To me, that building is not especially interesting and getting a good picture would be difficult. The colours and sharpness look fine to me and the sky is good.
