    More on the lightbox

Had some time Sunday to work on some more Lightbox photos. Took the advice from Mike and didn't go for the pure white background in every shot. Shot these with Canon 6D, 40mm lens & Tokina 100mm Macro

I like the last three quite a lot. In the last one, see if it's possible to bring out enough detail in the far left berry to show each part of the dark area.

The problem for me with the first one isn't that the background is grey. It's that some of the peppers are generating a reflection and some are not. Also, there are some funny lines (perhaps reflections of something in the room?) in the upper area of the background/tabletop.

    Hi Travis!

I was wondering where your top lighting is coming from?

The greenery works well in this format.

I like your style Travis I think red peppers would look better on a white BG.

or maybe try a black background?

I like the second one in particular, the colouring and water drops look very good.

I like #3 with the mushrooms and basil leaves. Maybe you should have spray water on the peppers instead...

    Travis,

I just now looked at the first photo and realized there is another reason it's not as appealing as the other photos: I would be willing to bet that you made the background grey by selecting a white background and making it grey. It appears that you also accidentally selected some highlights on the peppers and changed them to grey.

These are nice Travis - they inspire me to consider making a lightbox, myself, and start the learning curve on which you are obviously much further along.

    Mark,

Rather than make a light box, you'll have a lot more flexibility if you purchase a piece of white translucent plexiglass and a continuous lamp. Support the plexiglass on two sides by anything that will easily hold it, such as two chairs or sawhorses. Place the lamp underneath the plexiglass shining toward the plexiglass.

Thanks guys for the comments and suggestions. Terry, I usually sit the lightbox on a table by a window with indirect soft light, for these shots I used a foil reflector to direct light back to the subject.
