    Photobucket???

There was a time that using Photobucket was reasonably satisfying...no more!!!

I have an urge to say "Houston, we have a problem"...in general, the colors and tones of what I'm looking at here do not represent what I see on the ProPhoto converted to sRGB and saved via "Save for Web" originals.
What goes into Photobucket only vaguely represents what is coughed out onto various sites. What might be better alternatives than Photobucket?

I find the website quite irritating in general. If you want to share pictures i'd use 500px , pinterest or maybe create your own blog with tumblr!

    Hi Chauncey,

Are you saying that Photobucket changes the colours and tones of the images you upload? I use Photobucket, always have, for the sole purpose of posting photos here.

    Thank you

All of my images that I post here are on Flickr, and the main reason I like it is that I can store full-sized images out of my D800 on that site.

Colours seem to be okay; the only issue I see is that Flickr allows different resolutions for links and downloads, all based on the original image, so the smaller images can look oversharpened.

I use ProPhoto settings in Photoshop and resample for sRGB for posting too.

    Re: Photobucket???

I had an account at Photobucket for a very short time, but deleted it because of some items in their terms of reference - specifically the following:

When you make your Content public, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license (with the right to sublicense) to copy, distribute, stream, post publicly display (e.g. post it elsewhere), reproduce and create derivative works from it (meaning things based on it), anywhere, whether in print or any kind of electronic version that exists now or is later developed, for any purpose, including a commercial purpose.
By making your content public, you are also giving other Members on Photobucket the right to copy, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display, reproduce and create derivative works from it via the Site, third party websites or applications (for example, via services allowing Members to order prints of Content or t-shirts and similar items containing Content, and via social media websites), provided such use is not for a commercial purpose.

Other folks may not have a problem with this, but I definitely do. That's also the reason I don't post any photos to Facebook, as well as a few other sites.

I did use Flickr for a while, but wasn't happy with the way they handled a couple of things, so I'm now with SmugMug.

I use smugmug.com... Although I don't like the present configurations of smugmug as well as I liked the original version, it is still the best choice for me...

All I know is when I use "save for web" in PSCC and send them to Photobucket they seem fine, even when viewing in Photobucket, but...when I link to them, or even take a screen capture from Photobucket, they gain about 30 points in saturation.
