Re: Reflections on a Material World C&C Welcome
I just wonder, Jack, about a slight crop to reduce the right side and 'tighten up' the scene slightly. Not a lot though; but probably needing a different size ratio.

Re: Reflections on a Material World C&C Welcome
Thanks Geoff. If I crop it a bit more on the right, I wouldn't want to lose the driver because then it would look like a parked car. I could crop it a bit more, to just behind the driver's head but not sure that it would change it in any significant way.

Re: Reflections on a Material World C&C Welcome
It is that bit of car, and door handle, which I find distracting. For me that would be sufficient, and I suppose a similar amount from the top.
But I am just holding pieces of card against my screen

Hi Geoff, I'll play with it and post a cropped version later.
Thanks again.

Geoff, is this what you were thinking of?

Re: Reflections on a Material World C&C Welcome
Yes, Jack, for some reason in the edit version that car is now smoothly guiding my view towards to scene centre, where the main action is, instead of making me pause then look right.
Probably something as simple as the car door handle.

Re: Reflections on a Material World C&C Welcome
Geoff,
You have a very good eye. After comparing the two I can't but agree with you that the second flows more smoothly. A little thing like a door handle...
Thanks again.

Re: Reflections on a Material World C&C Welcome
Thank you Dave.
The guy was completely into what I assume was listening to music (ear buds and an eye-phone) and oblivious to all around.
To answer your question: not at all. In fact I like to think that the guy was listening to Van Morrison.

Re: Reflections on a Material World C&C Welcome
I am constantly surprised by the effect a small crop can have on a photo. I wasn't sure what to make of the original version - I thought the car was parked. But in the cropped edit I see it as moving and not it makes sense to me.
Completely immersed in music : Van will do it to you every time

Thanks Greg. A slight crop and it really does work better...whoda thunk.

A couple of cards held against the screen never lie!
