Church at Sunset

This church is about 10 miles from my house. The first time I drove past it at sunset, I thought I was going to run off the road. I think the setting sun reflecting off those windows is beautiful. I've been waiting for a while for a great opportunity to shoot it at sunset, and I got it this past weekend.

I agree with your assessment of the lighting in the shot. It works beautifully, and those nice puffy clouds in the sky don't hurt either.

If it were my image, I might be tempted to straighten out the walls a tad; I tend find them a bit distracting.

Gorgeous colors! I agree with all details of Manfred's post. If you correct the distortion he mentioned, the roof of the building in the background will also become level.

This image is so nice that I now have just one more suggestion now that you have corrected the distortion: Notice that the cross on top of the church is a bit cramped. You could easily solve that problem by increasing the size of the canvas at the top and cloning the sky to fill the newly added canvas area. Alternatively, you may have another image that has more sky at the top, which would also have a touch more sky once the distortion is corrected.

Excellent image. I don't know if it is my screen or just an illusion,... I noticed a light halo around the church specially on the top side of the church.
