    Jim - you have a good eye. Build on that and work on better your compositional technique (working a shot really helps here) and continue to work on understanding light and you will get there.

    Unless you want to get into doing major surgery on your images, concentrate on "getting it right in camera", it will really make your life a lot easier. If you look at any of my more recent work, unless I am working on a composite or am dealing with some really strange lighting; I rarely spend more than a few minutes in post. Some of my more complex stuff, especially the photo composites will have hours of work in a single image.
