    Using the Camera Equipment....

    Hi,
I am having my Canon EOS 600D and having the kit lens of 18-55mm, I just found out that, I placed a magnifying glass(3x and 6x) in front the lens it focuses even more nearer objects. I have attached two images of which i taken.

I want to know that, It can cause any harm to my camera??
    Please help.

    Hi Mac,

No, this will cause no damage to your camera at all. Just don't point it at the sun.

You are making your own "Close - up" or "Macro" filter, of which there are many brands.

Now you know what they can do for you it is time to invest in proper photographic quality glass if the idea grabs you.
The purist refers to these things as close-up lenses remembering that a lens adjusts focus and a filter adjusts colour.
One of their advantages is that the camera automatics work as normal but at a shorter camers-to-subject distance as you have found. The longer the lens the more effective they are in achieving tight framing as they are used to overcome the long lens inabiloity to focus close but we use the narrow angle of view of the longer lens to get the tight framing. I normally use mine on either a 280mm AoV lens [ MFT ] or 430mm AoV lens of my bridge camera. Remembering that you do not always need to get close for tight framed shots, in fact there are advantages in not getting that close.
However there is a distinct limit to their magnifcation capabilities and you need other ways for really tight framing.
