another dune scene
I'm struggling here in trying to get a better "artistic look" to these images...any suggestions?

For me, the moon needs to be higher in the sky; or crop a little from the top and lose some of the sky; which would achieve the same result.

Very nice. A little overlap among elements would really push this to the limits.

For me, the photo would be improved if the moon were not there at all. The textures of sand and sky complement each other, and the moon just seems to get in the way of the visual experience here. OF course, YMMV.

Re: another dune scene
The prints in the sand don't work for me. Somehow they give the scene the wrong scale and scream "fake" very clearly.
I also find that the tone families don't quite fit; the sand is much too light for a night scene and the red / magenta colour in the background doesn't look right with the yellow / orange tones in the sand. Our night vision is mostly monochrome, so perhaps some desaturation?
