Lightroom 4/Photoshop CS6 problem
I have a problem that's got me baffled. I always open LR4 files after RAW editing, in CS6 by pressing CTRL-E and they come up in the Camera Raw dialogue box in CS6 for a tweak or two in there before I finish off. I must have changed a setting or something because when I press CTRL-E tonight, the files open straight up in CS6 and bypass the Camera Raw dialogue - but I can't remember what I pressed. Can someone point me in the right direction to open CR2 files from LR4 in Camera RAW please?

Re: Lightroom 4/Photoshop CS6 problem
Nigel - I am not an expert on the subject but I am not sure how you were able to export a file from Lightroom to Photoshop and have it open in ACR unless previous versions of the programs worked differently than the current versions.
When you select a photo in the Lightroom library and press CTRL-E it exports and opens the file as you have defined in preferences under the External Editing tab. The default is Photoshop and you can open it as a PSD or a TIFF. The act of exporting the file performs the RAW conversion and since the Lightroom Develop module is functionally identical to ACR the assumption is that you have already done any editing in Lightroom that you could do in ACR.
From Bridge you have the option of opening files in ACR. Could that be what you are remembering? Hopefully someone smarter than I am will chime in and help.

Re: Lightroom 4/Photoshop CS6 problem
Nigel - my guess is that what you are seeing now is "standard" behavioir.
The Develop Module in Lightroom and ACR are identical, save for the user interface, so having LR open into ACR really makes no sense. I have LR 5.3 and Photoshop CC, (the versions that you have are long gone) so am not looking at the same version you are, but any file I use <Ctrl E> on opens in Photoshop; with any of the Lightroom / ACR edits stored in the .xmp sidecar file come across.
If you want to open these raw files in ACR; I suggest you use either Bridge or Mini-Bridge to do so.

Re: Lightroom 4/Photoshop CS6 problem
I had a particularly stressful day yesterday - hence nonsensical question. I can't think what I did but all back to normal. I think I had been opening a file from another programme and got an unexpected result but thanks for the constructive comments

Re: Lightroom 4/Photoshop CS6 problem
I have LR 4.something. If I go CTRL+E in the develop module it takes me directly to CS6 with all the lightroom settings applied. However if I go CTRL+E when in the library module it gives me options as how I want the image to be transferred. From memory there is a box I can tick so that from the library module it will always go to CS6 directly with the option last selected. Not sure if this is what has happened but it may give you a clue.

Re: Lightroom 4/Photoshop CS6 problem
Thanks for that - just tested it on my LR4 but it didn't happen. The problem is being put down to a senior moment of some description....
