Upgrading from kit lens

I pray that Ansel Adams is not turning in his grave, writhing in agony and self-doubt, if he is reading all this techno stuff about cheap kit lenses, rotating front elements and too small apertures. For my part, my sin, my sin, my sin, I modestly hopeI will not feel driven to Confession after using my 35 years old Nikkor 80-200 f4.0 next time out. Enjoy and capture a little of our CDN Rockies with what you've got.

To the two above who have just posted in this this, you will note that it goes back to 2014. and has been dormant since then.
