Don't own one but have used an example (a friend owned one for a while) on my Nikon while out in The Lakes District for the day. I have to say it was very (read that as VERY) impressive. Had it up against my Sigma 10-20mm f4/5.6 and it was significantly wider, sharper at the edges and a little better built.

All in all a very nice bit of glass that if I were starting again would definitely buy.

I use the full frame version 12-24 on canon, which the 8-16 was based on. Impressed by results once stopped down, lightroom corrects much of residue distortion, wider than anything else, just unfortunate you cannot use a filter on it die to protruding hemispherical front element. If you like it really wide there is no alternative.
