Windows Live Movie Maker Scroll

I do like Windows Live Movie Maker for my very short rescue dog videos. It is generally a very quick and easy way to produce a 30 second to one minute video...

However, I have a problem when selecting scrolling titles over a still image. The default scroll speed of the titles is far too fast for my tastes.

I cannot figure out how to slow down the scrolling speed. Increasing the duration of the clip simply extends the clips time after the scrolling has been completed.

I have attempted to solve this problem with placing blank lines between the lines of text.

While this allows the viewer to read the text a bit better, it doesn't do anything to slow down the scroll speed.

Is there any way to solve this problem?

I used Movie Maker years ago, I wonder if it's possible to apply this speed to a splice of the video that contains the text.

"Speed up or slow down a video

You can change the speed of your video in Movie Maker to make the video play faster or slower in your movie.

To change the speed of a video, click the video. Next, under Video Tools, on the Edit tab, in the Adjust group, click the Speed list, and then click a speed (depending on how much you want to speed the video up or slow it down)."

Although this works for a video clip, it doesn't seem to work for a still image with scrolling text. The "speed" selection is grayed out when I am working with a still image.

I have worked around the problem by using multiple selections of the still image. Then I place a short selection of the text on each still image segment and have these connected with a dissolve transition. Not quite as I would like it but, it works fairly well. As long as I keep the text pretty well in the same spot in the frame, one segment of the text seems to dissolve into the next segment.

I will post the short video I am going to use this on when I finish it...

Hi Richard,

Ah know, if yer using still frames for stop-go animation in Moviemaker, that ye can duplicate and add frames tae slow the final video down and make the animation more seamless (and also remove frames tae speed up animation). Worth a try.
