    Frangipani up close

    The first flowers on a tree I planted two years ago and I had to photograph them outside tonight due to the winds during the day. I would have loved to take one indoors but I'm not that brave

    Googling these it's pretty rare to see much other than the full flower shown due to it's unique shape but there was not a single bloom I could isolate reasonably.

    The red in these was blown a bit but did not show on the camera histogram but easily bought back by adjusting tint in WB.

    105mm, 1/250s, f11, ISO 200, SB600 to side with diffuser in TTL mode, tripod.

    Frangipani up close

    Lessons learnt;
    a) Buy another LED head light so I can have one permanently fixed to rig pointing at the subject for focussing and one on my head pointing down so I can see the toads before I step on them.
    b) Should have done a few closed down a bit although I like the limited DoF.

    Comments and suggestions welcome as always.

    my web connection is lousy tonight so only #1 loaded. i love the colours and how I get drawn into wondering what is on the other side.

    Beautiful! My favourite is the first one for the DOF and the composition. Especially beautiful colours!

    The Frangipani is a very memorable flower for me, as it brings back memories of a trip to the Cook Islands where upon arrival at the airport everyone was given a floral lei. I remember the fragrance of this particular flower on that day as being very beautiful but overwhelming, simply because of the abundance of flowers. At that time there was a beautiful fragrance made of the Frangipani flower called "Mii."

    Hi Christina,

    Thanks for commenting. I'm told this is a 'rare' colour but I would have preferred a white one where it's placed in the garden I'm wondering what bugs it will attract.

    The Frangipanis's are used here for making the floral leis as well as used by the women for wearing in their hair, and some men.

    Hi Grahame,

    Here's hoping you find a white Franipani with bugs!
