Both nice images Brigette, but perhaps the second one is the one I prefer.
And welcome to CiC from way down South

Thank you, Greg... lol what time is it there right now?
Thanks Otavio
You have a good eye for composition, Brigitte! If this was a cropped image, you might try the wider aspect ratio (as in the second version) on the first image so that you could position the sun just a little lower in the frame.
As long as you either remove the flair in post processing, or don't clip the flair, this should give a pleasing aesthetic and still give the sun a bit more breathing room so it is not so crowded in the frame. A lovely image with a lot of potential!
Thank you for the compliments, Frank; I am not sure if I understand that part with the wider aspect ratio correctly... would you try to explain in other words?
I'll try Brigitte. The aspect ration is the comparison of Width to Height. The aspect ration of your first image is 700 X 525 pixels or 4:3, slightly longer than it is high. This is the typical TV aspect ratio, not quite square. Your second image is 700 X 453 or about 3:2 about 1 1/2 times a wide as it is high. This is the typical 35mm film aspect ratio. By comparison, a wider aspect ratio of 16:9 is the typical HDTV format, wider still than the previous two.
I typically favor either 16:9 or even 2:1 (or 16:8 if you will) for most (but certainly not all) landscapes.
I'll need to assume that this is a cropped image. If so, than rather than remove some of the left side and some bottom as you appear to have done with the second image, See if you like the look of leaving the width of the image that same, removing 'some' of the bottom, and including just a bit more of the top (if there is any more in the original image to include).
That would give more space around the sun and still leave the shape of the edges of the image wider than high, the shape more like that of the second image.
Thank you for the try, Frank I am quite ingenuous at photography, and I don't have a professional equipment. I just have fun at shooting and (as I think) a little sense for arrangements and nice scenery. But I am thankful for every explanation and try to make me understand a bit more, I can see it just brings me forwards to more knowledge and maybe skill.I'll try Brigitte
I have a slight clue what you mean, the original image wasn't cropped, and second-guessed I am irritated that I didn't held the camera higher.
Regards, Brigitte
Greg, I think it's not a long time left now to go sleeping for you, I have to collect my boy from kindergarten here now and then WE will have our lunch
It's funny - I would normally walk past a subject like this but what an interesting picture it makes. Well done for spotting it and thanks for posting.
Thanks and you are welcome, Nigel
I sometimes see a scenery and consider how it could look at a certain time of day with a certain light and/or haze. In this case, I might have passed without noticing when it was average circumstances or if there wasn't that fence right in front of the eastern direction...
Hi Brigitte,
I try to always forgive myself for not getting things perfect and take what I've learned to the next level. I like your image very much. Thank you for posting it!
