This must be in an event somewhere where the firemen are involved in something...but I am bothered by the red something at the bottom of the shot. What is that?

Isabel,
They were actually at a call (which apparently turned out to be nothing). The red that you see is actually from the red lights of the fire engine behind them (and out of the scene) that I cropped out. They were clearing the call and the image of the three firefighters, and either the engine boss or the Batt. Chief, standing and looking at the painting just struck me as an odd juxtaposition of reality and fantasy.
I thought about posting this as B&W but the colors just struck me as vivid enough to warrant posting it in color. Mostly, at bit of whimsy on my part.

Thanks for the explanation. Well...I am glad you did this one in colour. And I like the implication of the story as well...a comparison. Good one and quick thinking.

Very interesting. This took me a while to put the pieces together. I first thought this was some weird HDR, but the scene came through. Your explanation of the red light helps, too. Were you up on the engine?
Good, quick thinking!

Thanks tedpartrick. I've been on top of an engine, but not here in the city. This was shot through a window on the 4th floor from across the street. The whole scene had a bit of surrealism to it.
