    Going old school... kinda!

Hi all, till i can get enough money for another DSLR i thought i would go and give my film cameras a bit of a clean and a go. So i bought myself some film(ilford H5+) and spent the past few weeks shooting them in my minolta x-700 with a 50mm prime and a newer camera canon eos 630 with the new tamron 28-75(?) lens. And today i shot my last shot of both and decided to give a go at developing my own film, and only done the film from the minolta.

The experience was nerve racking, but afterwards thought it was easier than i thought, but did learn alot from it. The following is the best photos(in my opinion) out of them, some were slightly OOF, over/underexposed, and was scanned with an el cheapo scanner. And some needs a cropping but dont have PS and cant be stuffed using the software that came with the scanner besides to re size t for the web and to save internet data. And one will have a visible water spot. Learning curve, but boy was it fun!!!!

Nice, it's a good way to keep the creativity flowing. Did it change your way of shooting any, meaning did you reserve your shots?

John, it made me think twice or more about everything, seeing as i could not immediately see the results, so i had to think and hope for the best, now to develop the film from the canon and to get more film. I recommend to anyone to take up film, it is oh so much fun!!!!

And thanks to everyone for your wonderful comments

    Allen,

The last time I shot with film, which was about a year ago, I was testing a camera that supposedly had an unknown defect and didn't want to waste more than one roll of film. My testing had to be done in daylight as I had no flash unit attached, so I didn't try to work any one subject so I used the 24 exposures over a wide range of subjects; hoping that I'd get at least a few good images. Worked out pretty well and plan to take the camera out again as I've learned its limitations. Turns out the defect on the camera was the exposure counter didn't work so had to remember how many images I took.

#1, #2 and #5 probably make up your best series I've seen. They raise the bar.

Seeing that you used a Minolta X-700 reminds me that that was my primary camera for my first 20 years of photography before I migrated to digital. I may have shot five rolls of color negative film. Everything else was color slide film. I think I still have the camera and the few lenses that I used with it, all consumer-grade lenses. Thanks for the pleasant reminder!

Perhaps all of us shooting with a digital camera should pretend that every shot is the very last shot of our very last roll of film.
