Yes, Brian, sometimes a perfect shot just isn't possible due to the conditions. I tried some insect shots yesterday but the light kept changing as clouds passed overhead and my subjects were a little skittish.
Managed some species identification images but certainly nothing which even remotely resembled a prize winning photo!
I will post some examples in another thread.
