I'm leaning towards the black and white version John. I'm finding plenty to look at with the interesting architecture, shadows and textures. The colour version looks over saturated to me but that may well be what it really looks like in that lighting.
    A very nice image

I like both John...I had lingered so much looking at the shadow of the smiling dragon the wall of both and they both appeal to me...

Hadn't spotted that Izzie, but you're right, one happy dragon

    John,

I wonder if you desaturated the image to make it black-and-white rather than convert the image using a color filter. I ask because I got the same look as yours by desaturating. Converting using an orange filter produced more pop throughout the image and more tonal contrast in the sky. You could make the residence brighter by using more of a yellow filter but that looses some of the detail in the building.

I prefer the colour version - I think Mike's analysis of the B&W is right - there just doesn't seem to be enough 'colour' there if that's not an Irish statement.

    Hi Mike,

I used the Photoshop Elements convert to b &w filter and used the vivid landscape setting. I'll give your method a try.

    Kaye,

Thanks for the comments. Do you feel there is lack of color in the building or the sky?

Very nice John. Is the smiling dragon the shadow of the coconut tree?

    Hi Leslie,

Thanks for the comments. It looks like the shadow's being cast by the smaller tree.
