    "Rocky's Excellent Adventure"

Rocky escaped from the yard again and had some fun exploring Collingswood. The stupid ass UPS guy left a package at my back door at about noon and didn't shut the gate to the fence. I let the dogs out not knowing this and after about 15 minutes I went out to check on them. Both dogs gone ! Cascha has never left the yard before even when the gate is open. I panicked and ran down the street toward's Knights Park where we walk. Here comes Cascha running at me. I scooped her up and secured her in the yard and headed out again to find "Rockman". No luck. I called Collingswood police to inform them, my vet, the spca and every other shelter in the area. Sitting at home feeling helpless thinking I lost my fave dog forever. Then at about 3:30, a young girl about 11 years old comes to my backdoor and asks me if I lost my dog. She said her mom found Rocky snooping around her house and had him in their basement. The girl, Serena, had seen my dogs outside when she walked to school and she recognized him when her mom showed her the dog. I followed Serena to her house about 3 blocks away and Serena's mom came out and said she had a white Jack Russell in the basement. He was in the basement because Rocky kept attacking her Pitbull and she was afraid the Pit would hurt him, yeah, right. So, little Serena held on to their Pit while her mom got Rocky from the basement for me. Dummy me, didn't bring a leash and collar and had to carry Rockstar three blocks back home. Right now he's passed out on my bed from his latest "Excellent Adventure"

Yet another reason why we love the little buggers Glad he made it home safe none the worse for wear. Lucky so if he was messing around a pitbull's house.

This is a dog with ulterior motives...be afraid...be very afraid :-)
Glad everyone got home safe. I can't imagine the panic. Perhaps a *talk* with the UPS delivery person is in order.

We've had a couple of experiences of similar types to 'UPS man' leaving the gate open and our Garry has tried is hand at walkabout. Luckily, it's never been more than a few seconds before I've discovered it and he's not been far away.

That stare! I wouldn't want to get too much on the wrong side of Rocky.

There's nothing better than such a very nice image coupled with such a happy ending to the story.

We are constantly inventorying our various dogs to make sure that they are all "present and accounted for"...

I love the "terrier stare". Here is a record shot I did of a Border Terrier who has recently become a rescue of ours. She reminds me of "Toto" from the Wizard of Oz...

    "Rocky's Excellent Adventure"

I always do a record shot as soon as a dog arrives to get a baseline of how they have improved and I don't really worry too much about composition, camera level, etc. I won't do the "official rescue portraits" until after she delivers the litter of puppies she is presently carrying,,,

This little girl is quite pregnant. We were told by the person who rescued her from the terrible home she was living in that she was a Yorkshire Terrier. She certainly is no Yorkie, but she has a home with us until she delivers and weans her litter and then we will find her a furever home... Supposedly the father of the puppies is a Maltese. That may end up being some strange looking puppies...

Oh Travis...I am laughing and crying at the same time reading your story...I guess I am just a big sucker for dogs that can look at you as if nothing happened afterwards...
