A nice slice of life on the streets, Jack. My eye goes straight to the faces and then to exploring detail of the men. Does the guy on the left have his wallet chained to his belt? I probably would have tried to get a shot of that leg area, too - it says something about insecurity to me...

Greg, thanks. The man in the center does seem to 'control' the image. As for the man on the left, he's wearing what is (sometimes derisively) called a 'chain driven wallet.' Out of shot, his right pant leg is rolled up to just below his need, the bicycle chain side of a bicycle. The chain is likely to keep from losing his wallet while riding is bike. There is also a chance he's a bike messenger, which are some of the craziest, dangerous and rudest of all bicyclist species.

Nice photo Jack, IMO all it needs just a little bit more space above the heads

For me also Jack but street photography rarely gives you the chance for refined composition.

Binnur, funny you should mention that. If you were to draw a line, from the very top of the hat on the man on the left, all the way across the image, that was where it ended. I added everything above that line to give the man in the center a bit more 'head room.'

Thanks John(2), and you're right, sometimes it's catch as catch can.

    Dear Jack,

I like it. One of the things I like about street photography is that it reflects a microcosm of people's lives. We can be the voyeur without penalty.

    Marie,
Thank you. I agee about the microcosm of their lives; I think of them as micromoments. Something that flashes by too quickly to notice, but it allows us to enter their lives for that small fraction of a moment.

Janet, thanks. As I pounted out in another of my shots, I almost always am taking the shot from stomach/chest height. I carry my camera in such a way that I can point it at, or turn towards someone and click the shot unobtrusively. My camera also has a Q setting which quiets the mechanism. So on the streets it's practically silent.

After your explanations about how you shoot such photos,I think the cropped head of the man on the right side is very normal Jack. You have no chance of setting a composition with several trials as we do for landscapes. As I said in my previous post 'nice photo'

Thanks again Binnur. I think I made it a 'better' image by adding a bit of head room so at least both men with caps on have complete caps. The guy on the right, I just have to live with.
