    Water Cricket

    No, not a new sport due to the amount of winter rain; although that might be an idea!

    These were small (10 mm) fast moving insects 'skating' over the surface of a small pond. Well more like a large puddle!

    Shooting from the 'shoreline' I couldn't get closer than 3 ft and they never stopped racing around. Much faster than I could focus. So I shot many times, and got virtually all rejects. However, here are a couple of the 'better' images which roughly show the type of creature.

    Good shot, Geoff. Well.......blow me down! Both looks like they got their lights turned on at the back, more so on#1.

    A real photographer would have gone in the water! Just kidding. Nice shots for where you were and the fact they were moving.

    That is what I thought, John. Not perfect photographs, but something of general interest though.
