Patron tequila bottle shot from down under
This composition would have been impossible to make using my pair of sawhorses that has now been replaced by my custom-built stand. Just imagine what I'll be able to do once the stand's cup holder arrives.

Aah Mike...come to the aid of this woefully inadequate studio photographer and explain why parking that carafe on a pane of squeaky clean museum glass, then taking the shot from underneath wouldn't have worked.

Re: Patron tequila bottle shot from down under
Your idea is exactly what I did with this photo, Chauncey, only I used regular glass rather than museum glass. I don't even know if museum glass is made thick enough to hold a lot of weight. The glass that I use for my tabletop is the same thickness that is used for dining room tables.
I couldn't make this photo using my pair of sawhorses because all of the legs and cross supports would have prevented me from positioning the tripod where I need it. My new studio stand has 50% fewer legs and 60% fewer supports. More importantly, the few supports that do exist aren't nearly as likely to get in the way because of where they are positioned.

Chauncey,
Just in case you haven't seen my fancy new stand, it's explained in this thread.
