Are Nikon finally going to replace the D300s with a new Pro DX body?

Thats kind of the common thoughts across the web - but I do know dedicated birders like the DX bodies and want/needs the speed. The rumours won't go away that Canon are updating their 7D so Nikon might just be doing the same.
It is too little too late or will it became a classic?
