    Cheetah

Recently had a nice over-cast day. So I headed out early to our local zoo. An Shanto, our local cheetah, was being unusually cooperative.

    Bryan,

Careful, you are going too blue.

Ya, but I kinda liked it. It was overcast. I wanted a more muted shot, without punchy/warm color. Maybe I had been editing too many morning shots and was sensitized to the warm side.

    Thanks for viewing.

Definitely agree. He came all the way over to my side of the enclosure and chirping and rolling around in the grass. He was in a rare mood.

Nice set of shots of a beautiful animal. And it was definitely cooperating. WB does look a bit cool.

Thats a pretty overweight cheetah... Great captures and sharpness. I see you wanted the shots cooler...but this is a cheetah!! Try warming it up a little and see if your feeling for the cat improves more. Not saying the images are wrong, just feel a warmer feel will bring it to a more "natural" habitat.

Bryan...were I to have an opportunity to shoot that creature...it would take hours, mostly waiting for everything to come to fruition (lighting, posing, background, whatnot). Work the shoot.
Your second and third images are great...the first is spoiled by the background.

Very nice. My cheetah pics from our zoo didn't turn out as lovely. She was pretty stubborn and my patience was wearing thin. As far as the muted look I think it adds a little more 'thoughtfulness' to the image or a story. If it's what you were going for then you achieved it.

Thanks Claudio, He's living a comfortable life, and with comforts comes a little weight ;-) Some of my shot tend toward the warm side, but I rather like the cool whites and black blacks and the contrast they bring.

Thanks Chauncey. I did end up standing around for about 1.5 hour, but he was entertaining. It took a while to get the shot of him emerging from the bamboo (#1). I thought the stump in the second shot was more distracting, but I loved the profile with the shoulder blades raised.
