    mushrooms in monochrome

I had these photos for a few months not knowing how I should PP them. Finally, these are the results. Any critique or suggestions as to how to shoot or PP these are more than welcome.

I like them. I think the second one works better with the dof than your pp treatment in the third. The first one is particularly lovely - I love the crispness and the blackness - makes them mushrooms look like they're up to no good, maybe they're magic ones.....................

Nicely done, all three versions. I think it's the distinctive shape that makes the monochrome version work so well.

Hi Kaye, thanks for the comments. I purposely cropped tighter for the 3rd one so that the details of the mushroom could be seen. Hahahaa I like your description of the first one.

John thanks for the comments. Their distinctive shape was one of the reasons that had me stumped as to how I should proceed. How to make "one" stand out from the rest or how to make all of them as a group to stand out.

Glad you liked my different renditions

The second is a standout for me, Steven. It makes me think of umbrellas in the rain.

Steven, 1 and 3 for me , but I like sepia as a medium. Suggest a slightly tighter crop in no.1 or a bit of cloning to lose the half mushrooms at the edge of the comp. Just makes it a bit more tidy.

#1 and #2 for me Steven...I like the lighting very much. Kaye has a lot of imagination for those mushrooms...the real magic mushrooms grow on top of cow poops and they are orangy in colour. When we were young, we were told (taught???) not to touch them or we'll grow into fairies...

Isabel, Binnur ... sorry for being away so long. Been traveling the last few days.

Isabel, your story brought me a smile. But I was wondering? Children being children didn't anyone of decided to be a fairy

Good series Steven, it's No 1 for me. As for shooting groups such as No 1 I have to admit that on the last set I did I removed the ones at the edges before clicking.

well, that's what making an image is all about rather than just shooting it
